I know it may seem a bit early to talk about but

Have you already planned your summer vacations??

Any idea yet???

So che potrebbe sembrare un po' presto per pensarci ma

Avete già fatto progetti per le vacanze estive??

Well, I have MANY ideas but I don't know if there will be

a vacation for me this year.

I don't make plans but I really hope for a miracle

because it's been a hard year and would need to escape somewhere else

for a while

Beh, io ho MOLTE idee ma non so se potrò permettermi

di andare in vacanza quest'estate.

Non faccio progetti ma spero tanto in un miracolo

perchè è stato un anno difficile e avrei tanto bisogno di scappare

da qualche parte per un po'

If I could I would take a flight, rent a cottage

and settle for a week in the Cotswolds or the Lake District

Or I may drive around Provence and see what I still haven't seen

Se potessi prenderei il primo volo, affitterei un cottage

e mi stabilirei per una settimana nei Cotswolds o nei Lake District

Oppure guiderei attraverso la Provenza a vedere quello che mi manca

This was the time of the year when my friends and I used to gather

with a map and decide which places we should visit

check the distances, look where to stay and start studying the guide

Questo era il periodo dell'anno in cui io e i miei amici ci riunivamo

con una mappa per decidere i posti da visitare

controllare le distanze, cercare un posto dove dormire e iniziare a studiare la guida

I love the excitement of new discovery

Write to tourist office

 receive brochures with many pictures

and start dreaming over them

Adoro l'eccitazione della scoperta

Scrivere all'ufficio del turismo

ricevere i depliant con tante foto

e iniziare a sognare

This was the year of Ireland

but Alas! we shall wait for another year

Maybe the next?

Questo era l'anno dell'Irlanda

ma Ahimé! dovremo aspettare un altro anno

But I also like the comfortable feeling when you visit a place you

already have been

Everything familiar, everything been missed

Like an old lover you can look in the eyes again
